The Canon EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R (known as the EOS 5Ds and EOS 5Ds R in Japan) are two closely related digital SLR cameras announced by Canon on February 6, 2015. Both are professional full-frame cameras with 50.6-megapixel sensors, the highest of any full-frame camera at the time of announcement. Canon doesn't provide a built-in way to view the shutter count. Nor do they include a utility that displays the shutter count. It's always a 3rd party method that has to be used to see it. I use a utility called 'ShutterCount' available for Macs (via Mac 'App Store'). I think it was $2.99 USD. There is one caveat about the 6D. Shutter count and more for your canon eos dslr. EOSCount allows you to read a shutter counter from a Canon EOS DSLR (DIGIC III and later) camera. It can also sync a camera clock to your PC's clock. Reasons to retrieve a camera's shutter count include: confirm that a new camera is truly new (shutter count 0) establish value of a used camera. The utility is for windows users, is free and will work on most recent Canon EOS Digital Cameras (models since 2010). Informations can be read from a USB-con.

The only difference between the two models is that the sensor of the 'R' version includes an optical filter that cancels out the effects of a standard optical low-pass filter. This distinction is roughly similar to that between Nikon's now-replaced D800 and D800E (with the E having a self-cancelling filter). Canon stated that both the 5DS and 5DS R will not replace the older EOS 5D Mark III, so therefore both the 5DS and 5DS R will have their new positions in Canon's DSLR camera lineup.
